Information

Even though this information probably doesn't interest you, I'm writing about it anyways. Wait, no. Typing. Typing about it. Here's the history about bracelets. The music in the background might soothe your boredom if you ever happen to get bored of reading this, heh.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Archaeologists found evidence that humans had worn jewelry such as bracelets as long as 7,000 years ago. Earlier bracelets, before metal bangles, were made out of grass, shells, and thin tree limbs. After that, they were made of copper and bronze. After the Bronze Age, bracelets were made of gold and silver. Jewelry, at this time period, was a symbol of high status.

In Europe, European women wore bracelets commonly as pieces of apparel. Bracelet chains were very popular in this century. Charm bracelets were also very popular in the Victorian Era.

Fast forward to the 20th century (the 1900s). Bracelets became more affordable to those who wanted to buy the pieces of jewelry. Plastic bracelets became popular with teenagers in this century. Some men wore bracelets at this time period. Bangles were becoming more and more modern.

Let's move onto the history of plushies, also known as plush toys. Plushies often take the shape of animals, the most common plushies being of a bear. The first ever mass produced plushie was Ithica Kitty, a plush cat toy. The character Peter Rabbit, an anthropomorphic rabbit from the author Beatrix Potter, was the very first plush toy to be patented.

In 1903, Richard Stieff created the teddy bear in Europe. At nearly the same time, Morris Michtom made a teddy bear in the US. Stuffed toys were first made of cloth and faux fur, and were stuffed with straw, wood beans, and wool.

Mentor Interview

Hello everyone! Your friendly neighborhood Spid- I mean, Kaitlyn here. :D

Today I interviewed my mentor, Ms. Lowy, about
certain questions about Jennyfer and I's project.

here's the paper I wrote on for reference. :o

The questions I asked are in bold, whist her answers are normal.

Why do you think community service is important?

I think that it's important to give back to your community, and it's easy to forget to give back.

What have you learned from your involvement in community service?

I learned that I can work on my own projects, not necessarily in an organized way. I like to basically find a need, and then fill it.

Why is this cause or issue important to you,
and how did you become involved with it?

My mom had cancer, and she has been in remission for a long time. The cancer society does a lot of research for cancer patients.

What expertise/assistance are you able to offer to
help make my capstone successful?

I can make anything. I have supplies in my classroom, and I'm willing to help.

How will my involvement with this cause or issue help in my
journey of becoming a lifelong learner?

I think that it'll give you an opportunity to "donate your skills" to others.

There you have it folks! Some questions and answers about my capstone, from a student to a teacher. Stay tuned for the next blog post! Cya! :>
